# Positive Feedback Loop
In a Positive Feedback Loop, an initial change triggers a series of events that amplify the original change, leading to an exponential growth or escalation. This is a common phenomenon in natural systems, such as population growth or climate change.
For example, consider in a warming climate, melting ice caps reduce Earth's reflectivity, leading to increased absorption of solar radiation and further warming.
Positive feedback loops exhibit an inherent *directionality*, meaning they movement forward in time and lead to a change in outcome. In the example above, as the feedback loop progresses time moves on and the outcome (warming) increases. This is similar to what occurs in a [Cyclical Process](Cyclical%20Process.md).
